BBC Brings Doctor Who & Top Gear to The Sandbox

UK based media, entertainment and news hub, British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)partnered with sandbox metaverse. Together, they will bring some of the company’s beloved intellectual property to the virtual realm, including heavyweights like Doctor Who and Top Gear.

An exciting new collaboration, launching later this year, will also leverage the blockchain expertise of Web3 specialists. Reality+. As a result, all three companies will come together to build the first ever permanent home of the BBC in the Metaverse.

Through this initiative, the BBC will launch a series of bespoke sandbox experiences featuring hit series such as Irresponsible Car Show, Top Gear, Intergalactic Time Fest and Doctor Who. Essentially, it allows fans of the show to immerse themselves in their favorite series and engage with them on a more personal level.

In addition, this strong collaboration will also bring with it a wider BBC event space. The result is a venue for broadcasters to showcase their latest contests and celebrations.

BBC and Sandbox focus on sustainability

To stay firmly on the ground, the BBC and The Sandbox collaboration will keep an eye on sustainability. That’s why the company has partnered with several prominent green companies to ensure their carbon certification stays clean. As such, Offsetra and Nori will work to compensate for the project’s carbon emissions, while WeForest will help restore threatened forests and landscapes.

This incredible new collaboration isn’t the BBC’s first foray into the world of NFTs and the Metaverse. Previously, the Doctor Who: Worlds Apart card game was launched alongside another cutting-edge Reality+ Web3 company. Aspects of the world’s leading media companies have also been incorporated into the Metaverse, but The Sandbox collaboration will be its first permanent virtual destination.
