GQ Magazine Launches Utility Driven NFT Art Project

GQNew York-based men’s magazine presents an NFT collection that offers fans a variety of perks. Owners of these NFTs have access to magazine subscriptions, merchandise, and live events. To bring the collection to life, GQ Magazine tapped into his expertise with four renowned artists. REO, Chuck Anderson, Sewath Attafuah and Kelsey Niziolek.

The company challenged the quartet to use its motto. “Change is good,” As a guide for generating the digital art that later forms the collection. In the end, each artist came up with her 100+ ideas. “Unique traits that can be combined infinitely” These properties were then combined algorithmically to form the basis of 1,662. “GQ3 Issue 001: Change is Good” NFTs.

Minting is scheduled to begin in stages on March 8th, with an allowlist made up of Discord members getting the first dibs. Each piece is worth 0.1957 ETH, or $328 at press time. The pricing honors the year GQ magazine was first published, nearly 66 years ago.

A statement on the project’s official website reads:

“When you create artwork from this first collection, you also get a pass to unlock the GQ Universe. Tokens give you access to magazine subscriptions, GQ boxes, exclusive GQ3 merchandise, and tickets to NYC’s first-ever GQ3 party. You will receive many benefits from GQ such as: Also, as a founder and owner with continued access to live events, a special section of the GQ Discord, and first status for future drops, I will guide you to the GQ3 community.”

GQ Magazine joins other major publications in adopting Web3

By launching its own NFT collection, GQ Magazine is following in the footsteps of other legacy publications adopting Web3. More recently, TIME Magazine, CNN and others have launched their own collections.
