Japanese auto giant Nissan has made great strides in its forays into the NFT and Web3 space. The company has filed in the US for his four new Web3-related trademarks covering the Infiniti, Nismo and Nissan brands.

The filing reveals Nissan’s plans to create virtual clothing, cars, headgear, trading cards, toys, tickets, and an NFT Marketplace for trading and minting NFTs.

Nissan has also announced plans for Metaverse advertising services and other “entertainment services”, including online video, images, artwork, tickets, audio, sound, music and trading cards, as well as information on proposed NFTs and how to do so. It outlines the plans for the published website. will work

Nissan’s Japanese unit car sales experiment Through the virtual store “Nissan Hype Lab,” the metaverse allows customers to access the virtual storefront via PC or smartphone, create a customized avatar, and interact with virtual sales staff.

Customers can also place orders and conclude purchase agreements through this virtual sales office. According to Nissan’s announcement, the trial will run from March 8 to June 30. In the trial, the company will research, consult, test drive, and purchase Nissan vehicles in the Metaverse, and consider the possibility of new sales methods for vehicles.

Nissan goes all out for Web3

This isn’t the first time Nissan has experimented with Web3 and smart contract technology. In October 2022, the Japanese auto giant filed five trademark applications with the US Patent and Trademark Office, revealing plans to enter NFT, Web3 and the metaverse space.

The application was to cover major car models such as SKYLINE, Z and GTR, and introduce products such as NFT-powered media, online NFT marketplaces, digital wallets, NFT mining, trading and storage software.

The patent also introduced the idea of downloadable media files for NFT authentication, an online NFT marketplace for buying and selling NFTs, and non-downloadable software for creating, storing, and trading NFTs.

And with this latest patent offering, it’s clear that the Japanese auto giant is committed to Web3 development.

Other auto giants enter Web3

It’s worth noting that other automotive giants such as General Motors, Ford Motor Company and MG are also making big moves in the NFT and Web3 space.

Last month, GM Motors announced an interest in creating downloadable digital media files containing collectible artwork, text, audio, and video. This will be authenticated as a non-fungible token, according to the company’s trademark filing.

And last fall, Ford Motor Company filed 19 trademarks covering major car brands such as Mustang, Bronco, Lincoln, Explorer and F-150 Lightning. Applications include his marketplace online for the company’s branded virtual cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, clothing, and proposed NFTs.

Despite the cryptocurrency winter and bear market, multinationals are still filing trademark applications covering Web3, cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the Metaverse.
