The influx of multinationals looking to reserve a spot on the upcoming Metaverse continues this week, with both Western Union and PayPal filing trademark applications for the Metaverse with the USPTO.
They follow earlier Metaverse trademark filings by American Express, Coinbase entry It was introduced to global remittances earlier this year, allowing you to withdraw US dollars in Mexican pesos.
PayPal and Western Union, both leading global money transfer companies, filed trademark applications on October 18, 2022, Mike Kondoudis said in a recent tweet.
Western Union Metaverse Trademarks
Western Union has been slow to adopt cryptocurrency payment services compared to other money transfer companies. But their recent filings show that Web3 technology is the future, and if you don’t embrace it, you’ll be left behind.
The application includes what appears to be a plan for a digital exchange, possibly even issuing its own tokens as well as a traditional money transfer business.
PayPal Trademarks in the Metaverse
With the announcement in June that US customers would be able to deposit and withdraw cryptocurrencies from their wallets, PayPal appears to be well on its way to all things blockchain. Recent developments seem to confirm this.
PayPal filings contain downloadable software that you can use to buy, sell, store, and trade digital and virtual cryptocurrencies, digital assets, and tokens.
This software allows users to transfer, store and manage their digital assets all within the PayPal ecosystem. Additionally, they have applied for his Metaverse trademark for cryptocurrency remittance and payment processes.
