Steve Aoki and 3LAU Debut New Song as Punx Duo

Grammy-nominated electronic music icon, Steve Aoki and Justin “3LAU” Blau, announced their first track as the duo, Punx, inspired by the CryptoPunks NFT collection, “Concentrate”. Scheduled for release on April 28th, the single aims to embody the underground, technological and futuristic ethos that CryptoPunks represents.

The fast-paced electronic music track will be released on Royal, 3LAU’s Web3 music rights platform. Royal aims to democratize music ownership and support artists through NFTs that grant rights to a portion of the royalties for their songs. His 99 NFT collectors, selected among Blau’s NFT holders, Aoki’s A0k1verse Passport NFT holders, and CryptoPunks NFT holders, will receive half of the “Concentrate” royalties.

Punx makes its mark on the Web3 space

Blau, who is also Royal’s CEO, spoke about the common affinity he and Aoki had as Punx. Aoki was one of the first DJs to listen to Blau at the time when Blau was ranting about his NFT.

Both Aoki and 3LAU have made a number of moves in the Web3 world, with 3LAU holding the record for the largest music NFT sale with $11.6 million at auction in 2021. Aoki, on the other hand, claims he made $4 million from his first NFT collection and earned more than that. All his records more money from his Web3 than his label progress.
