Up metaverse game sandbox launches a land sale today featuring top brands and celebrities. This offer is the first of his three-part LAND sale. Collaborations with popular brands such as Tony Hawk, Playboy and Snoop Dogg are also planned.
Sandbox was one of the first platforms to challenge the metaverse by creating interactive spaces. It is based on the Ethereum blockchain and has similarities to top games such as Roblox and Minecraft.
However, Sandbox leverages blockchain technology to allow users to claim ownership of their in-game assets through NFTs. You can also trade your virtual land on top NFT marketplaces like: high seas.
Today’s sale will auction 1,967 LANDs, comprising 50 properties, 695 Regular LANDs, 134 Premium LANDs, and 19 1-of-1 LANDs. As with physical real estate, sandbox real estate consists of lots that are grouped together.
Speaking to Decrypt, the platform revealed that standard and premium LAND sales will be allocated via a blind voting system.
LANDs act as building blocks for sandboxes. This is a parcel of virtual land on which NFT tracks ownership. Users of the platform can purchase these parcels and use the space to host their experiences. You can also trade your land on the market.
There are currently 166,464 LANDs in the sandbox, worth 1.119 ETH each.
Today’s sale is dubbed “California Dreaming” refers to “California-themed brands” such as “Playboy” and “The Marathon.”The remaining two sales will feature other themes and will take place in early 2023.
That said, this sale marks the first time Sandbox has collaborated with multiple brands on a single LAND sale.
Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of Sandbox, said: Note that “By including multiple brands that share similar themes, like the California brand of California Dreamin’, […] Users have the chance to become neighbors of multiple partners who share similar themes. For example, you can choose which district of a city you would like to live in.
To participate in the sale, you need at least 1,011 SAND in your wallet (currently worth about $520). Also, users can only purchase one asset in a system intended to democratize the distribution of assets.
