The World Economic Forum (WEF) has announced the launch of its own metaverse project, the Global Collaboration Village. Its purpose is to create a platform for world leaders and institutions to come together to tackle the planet’s most pressing problems.

This virtual village is designed to look and act like a Swiss city where avatars gather in coworking spaces, attend meetings in government buildings, and explore museums.

But they don’t want it to be just a virtual version of Davos or any other center. Kelly Ommundsen, who heads WEF’s Global Collaboration Village, said he’s trying to do things that only the Metaverse can do. She said: “If it’s better done in person or on paper, it doesn’t make sense.”

WEF joins forces with Microsoft to deliver global virtual collaboration

WEF is Partner with Microsoft and Accenture created the project, with over 80 organizations and founding partners supporting the initiative. Schwab is already working with numerous partners such as Meta (Facebook) and his IMF to create a bustling virtual village.

The aim is for WEF partners to have their own building within the Global Collaboration Village and showcase their projects to anyone logging in from anywhere in the world.

WEF sees the virtual village as a powerful tool and a platform for environmentalists to present their pressing concerns in a more immersive way.

The Village was unveiled at the Davos conference this week, but its impact can certainly extend well beyond the week-long conference. Klaus Schwab said the WEF will start holding many gatherings within the village itself.Revolutionizing global collaboration.’

According to Schwab, WEF aims to understand how 3D avatars can build more trust and relationships between people and institutions during virtual meetings. He also highlights the effectiveness when compared to standard video conferencing.

Schwab understands the hesitation of working in a virtual world, but is confident that as technology advances, meeting individuals through the metaverse will become the norm.

Conclusion

Think about what you want out of the WEF. Many people don’t like or trust the WEF, but the fact that they are using his Web3 and Metaverse is bullish news.

Of course, it will be a learning curve for everyone involved, but they will quickly get used to it and see the benefits.

For better or worse for the people, Meta, the Saudi government, the United Nations and other institutions can participate in weekly interactive multilateral sessions, all within the Metaverse.
